R3Results training is based on practicing things that will really change the quality of daily life and make each employee feel and be more successful.
Recognizing that there are and always will be daily challenges and negative things is a good starting point. It orients everyone together. It is a relief to know we are not in it alone. Suggesting that despite the onslaught of challenges there are ways to stay refreshed, to complete the cycle, to rebound to the top, is something that will get everyone’s attention. It is not just positive thinking, since that in the absence of actual new skills and techniques, will wear out quickly. It is more about accepting the challenge, getting the skills, and having the positive experiences. The process starts with a change of definitions so that we are not set-up to fail by our own expectations.
First, little successes, partial successes must be noticed and extracted from the overall encounter. Total victory won’t happen all at once, but a strong sense of being on the right path can happen right away. It can have a feeling of being certain.
A master negotiator described being able to picture yourself on a mezzanine looking down upon yourself on the floor where the negotiation is taking place. This makes it a little more like playing a game or using your mind, instead of being in a desperate struggle.
Using skills first developed through actual, live hands-on practice with partners in dealing with the most extreme types of verbal attacks, we further refine the skills to deal with subtle attacks. The same basics of not having your center of gravity thrown off balance, of expressing clearly to the other person how you feel and what you request they do, apply here. Converting the reactive state of feeling enmity into a positive, active state of wishing to mentor or lead the other person, represents a complete transformation.
